As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work with a collaborative engineering team to build scalable software solutions that integrate AI and machine learning capabilities. The role offers exposure to real-world engineering projects while learning from experienced developers within Walmart’s technology ecosystem.
Interns are expected to demonstrate curiosity, ownership, and a strong willingness to learn while working within Walmart’s culture and engineering practices.

About the Team
The Marketplace Data Science team develops AI driven solutions that help increase marketplace revenue while also reducing operational costs. Multiple AI powered systems are already deployed across different marketplace use cases.
The intern will research and experiment with new AI approaches relevant to marketplace problems. The work may involve enhancing existing solutions or exploring new techniques and evaluating their scientific merit. Successful outcomes may be integrated into current marketplace data science systems.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with developers to build and improve large scale software systems.
- Contribute to systems that support large customer data platforms, item master data, and supply chain operations for both online and offline channels.
- Support development of mobile solutions that enhance experiences for Walmart associates.
- Work on large distributed systems including integration layers for suppliers and B2B partners.
- Participate in development across service oriented architectures, large scale distributed systems, high performance platforms, and large in memory databases.
What You'll Bring
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with an expected graduation year of 2027.
- Minimum aggregate score of 7 or higher across all semesters.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and object oriented programming.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, or Java.
- Ability to analyze problems, interpret data trends, and develop effective solutions in a fast paced environment.
