Position Summary
As a Software Engineering Sophomore Intern, you will work with a collaborative team building scalable software solutions that may include AI and ML integrations. The role provides exposure to real-world engineering projects while learning from experienced developers within Walmart’s technology ecosystem.

About the Team
The team focuses on building and maintaining the technology foundations that power Walmart’s infrastructure and platforms. This includes areas such as data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and core infrastructure. These systems support scalable and secure services for employees and customers across stores, digital channels, and distribution networks.
What You’ll Do
You will collaborate with developers to write code and contribute to large scale technology systems. Projects may involve building or improving systems such as large customer databases, master data systems for items and supply chain, mobile applications for associates, security frameworks, and integration layers connecting suppliers and partners.
Work may also include distributed systems, service oriented architectures, high performance platforms, scalable and reliable systems, large in memory databases, and private cloud infrastructure.
What You’ll Bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering with an expected graduation year of 2028.
- A combined aggregate score of 7 or higher across all semesters.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, object oriented programming, and design.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, or Java.
- Ability to analyze problems, interpret data and trends, and develop effective solutions in a fast paced environment.
