Role Overview
Eaton is seeking a motivated Apprentice to join the Master Data Management (MDM) team. This position offers practical exposure to modern enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake, data architecture concepts, Medallion Architecture, and emerging Generative AI capabilities.
The apprentice will collaborate with experienced data engineers and architects to support initiatives related to data engineering, data quality, and governance while developing foundational knowledge in enterprise data management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining MDM solutions on modern cloud platforms, with Snowflake preferred.
- Support implementation of Medallion Architecture using Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data transformation, validation, and analysis tasks.
- Participate in data modeling and architecture discussions.
- Contribute to data quality, cleansing, and standardization initiatives.
- Help build data pipelines, Streamlit applications, and workflow processes.
- Explore and prototype Generative AI based use cases for data management such as intelligent matching, enrichment, and automation.
- Collaborate with data stewards, business stakeholders, and engineering teams across functions.
- Document technical designs, data transformations, and recommended best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Basic understanding of SQL including joins, aggregations, and data transformations.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts.
- Exposure to Snowflake or other cloud data platforms is preferred.
- Understanding of core data architecture principles.
- Awareness of Medallion Architecture and layered data processing.
- Interest or foundational knowledge in Generative AI concepts and applications.
- Exposure to ETL or ELT processes is beneficial.
- Academic projects or coursework related to data engineering, AI, or Snowflake certifications are advantageous.
- Basic exposure to Python, data integration tools, APIs, and data services is helpful.
- Understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks is a plus.
