About the role

The Graduate Apprentice Trainee will join the Tool Design team and support the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing tools, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and related engineering solutions. The role offers practical exposure to product development, CAD modeling, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation while working alongside experienced design professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using engineering design software.
  • Participate in tool trials, validation activities, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and design documentation.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, production, quality, and procurement teams for tooling activities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting tooling-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Follow company standards, safety requirements, and established engineering practices.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project updates.

Required Qualifications

  • Specialization in Tool Design.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, welding, and drilling.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within engineering teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with any CAD software.
  • Knowledge of CATIA including part design, assembly design, and drafting.
  • Familiarity with 3DEXPERIENCE platform for part and assembly design.
  • Understanding of tooling design principles.
  • Knowledge of DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Exposure to Windchill or other PLM software.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle assembly processes.
