Position Summary
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work with a collaborative team building scalable software solutions that include AI and ML integrations. The role offers exposure to real production systems while contributing to real projects within Walmart's technology ecosystem.
Interns are expected to demonstrate curiosity, ownership, and a strong learning mindset while working closely with experienced engineers and following Walmart’s culture and values.

About the Team
The Catalog team manages the core systems that power Walmart’s complete product catalog across both stores and e-commerce platforms. Their work ensures every item, from groceries to electronics, is accurately represented, searchable, and available to customers at scale.
The team tackles complex problems in data modeling, high throughput distributed systems, and real time synchronization that directly affect the shopping experience of millions of customers.
What You Will Do
- Work with a team of developers to build and maintain large scale systems.
- Contribute to platforms that manage massive customer databases and master item data.
- Support supply chain systems that power both online and offline channels.
- Develop solutions for mobile applications that improve the experience for associates.
- Work on security frameworks, cryptography systems, and integration layers connecting suppliers and B2B partners.
- Build and support large scale distributed systems, service oriented architectures, and highly scalable platforms.
- Participate in development related to massive in memory databases and Walmart’s private cloud infrastructure.
What You Will Bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering with an expected graduation year of 2027.
- Minimum aggregate score of 7 or above across all semesters.
- Strong understanding of core computer science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, object oriented programming, and design.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as C, C++, or Java.
- Ability to interpret data, identify issues, and contribute to effective solutions in a fast paced environment.
