What the ICTS S. N. Bhatt fellowship offers

The program usually runs every summer, starting around the middle of May and ending around the middle of July. Selected students take part in active research at ICTS alongside faculty members and postdocs. ICTS says earlier batches have done useful work for its research groups, and many of those students went on to research careers at universities around the world.

Everyone selected gets a stipend and a place to stay. The notice doesn't print the stipend amount, so the accommodation is the part you can count on when planning. Both Indian and foreign nationals are eligible.

ICTS summer research fellowship eligibility

You can apply if you are an undergraduate student of science, mathematics or engineering who has finished the second, third or fourth year of your program. Exceptional undergraduates who have finished only their first year may also apply.

Master's degree students are welcome, and so are those who have already completed their undergraduate degree. Computer science appears in the mathematical sciences list, which makes this a realistic option for CS and engineering students drawn to theoretical work.

Tips before you submit your ICTS application

Talk to your referees now rather than in December. Teachers get many requests near the end of the semester, and a rushed reference won't help you. Pick people who have seen your work in a course or project related to the topic you're applying for.
