About the Role
The Custom Index Engineering team develops bespoke index solutions for third-party clients across global markets. The team works closely with colleagues in New York, New Jersey, and Mumbai to support innovative index methodologies and operational workflows.
As part of the internship program, you will contribute to exploratory initiatives, workflow improvements, and analytical projects related to index development and automation. The role offers exposure to financial markets, data analysis, and internal technology initiatives in a collaborative global environment.
The Impact
The team supports the development and launch of custom index products for a diverse global client base. In this internship, you will assist with process improvements, exploratory research, and technology enhancements that improve operational efficiency and support innovation.

Responsibilities
- Support internal automation and dashboard enhancement initiatives using Python-based tools and frameworks such as Streamlit or Dask.
- Assist with exploratory projects involving workflow improvements, analytical research, and technology initiatives.
- Review and validate structured data outputs under guidance.
- Help document workflows, methodologies, and operational processes.
- Collaborate with team members on testing, quality checks, and small development activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve recurring workflows and operational efficiency.
- Develop foundational knowledge of index concepts, financial datasets, and team workflows.
Additional Notes
- This internship is focused on analytical support, exploratory initiatives, and workflow enhancement projects.
- Interns will not independently manage production index workflows or proprietary systems.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related quantitative disciplines.
- Ability to work from the Mumbai office during the internship period.
- Knowledge of programming and analytical concepts for practical problem-solving.
- Interest in financial markets and data-driven analysis.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with data analysis concepts.
- Understanding of Git/version control and collaborative development workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to pandas, NumPy, Streamlit, or Databricks.
- Experience handling structured datasets and data processing workflows is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of financial markets or index concepts.
- Ability to work independently on structured tasks with team guidance.
