About the Role
The Data Research Associate is an individual contributor role focused on developing proficiency across assigned workflows and datasets. The position supports the complete data lifecycle including sourcing, validation, enrichment, and delivery while following standard operating procedures and escalation guidelines.
The role emphasizes operational discipline, data literacy, collaboration with research teams, and participation in AI-assisted workflows and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Delivery
- Collect, extract, and cleanse data from structured and unstructured sources.
- Perform sourcing, tagging, loading, and enrichment activities following SOPs and validation checks.
- Use approved manual and AI-assisted methods for day-to-day data processing.
- Maintain accurate production records in workflow and queue management tools.
- Monitor queues and escalate delays, blockers, or data issues when required.
- Meet defined production and quality targets for assigned workflows.
- Provide logs and supporting evidence for issue tracking and root-cause analysis.
Process Excellence
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and follow handover procedures.
- Adhere to governance standards, controls, and documentation requirements.
- Apply quality feedback consistently to reduce recurring errors.
- Suggest incremental process improvements for review and approval.
- Participate in automation and AI-enabled workflow initiatives using approved tools.
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with team members to clarify requirements and resolve daily data issues.
- Share updates regarding production volumes, delays, and concerns with senior staff.
- Participate in team meetings, calibration sessions, and workflow discussions.
Success Metrics
- Completion of tasks within defined SLA timelines.
- Strong first-pass data quality and reduced repeat errors.
- Compliance with SOPs and documentation standards.
- Responsiveness to feedback and effective queue management.
- Complete and accurate handover documentation for assigned workflows.
Required Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
- Understanding of structured and unstructured data formats including Excel, PDFs, filings, and vendor feeds.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and Excel for querying and reconciling data.
- Awareness of automation and GenAI tools.
- Exposure to data lifecycle concepts such as ingest, validation, and publishing.
Functional Skills
- Basic understanding of financial or market data concepts.
- Ability to perform data entry, tagging, and enrichment accurately.
- Capability to interpret source materials including filings and news feeds.
- Experience working with workflow systems and ticketing platforms.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Science, Engineering, or related disciplines. Candidates with 0 to 2 years of experience in data operations, research, or similar domains are preferred, including internship experience.
