About the Internship Role
As a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Intern, you will join the infrastructure team to gain hands-on experience in building, maintaining, and scaling high-performance production systems. This internship is designed for students eager to deepen their understanding of system reliability, monitoring, and automation.
You will be working directly with seasoned SRE professionals, learning how to maintain service uptime, improve system observability, and automate operational tasks. The internship may lead to a full-time opportunity based on performance and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining production-grade infrastructure and services
- Automate operational tasks using scripting languages such as Python or Perl
- Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and logging mechanisms
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure high availability and scalability
- Participate in incident response and assist in root cause analysis and documentation
- Maintain internal documentation and contribute to improving tooling and dashboards
Required Skills
- Strong foundation in Linux operating systems and basic shell scripting
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals and networking basics
- Familiarity with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Eagerness to learn and solve real-world infrastructure problems
- Currently enrolled in a Computer Science or relevant engineering program
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to distributed systems like Hadoop, Kafka, Elasticsearch, GlusterFS
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience with version control tools like Git
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible
