About the Role

PhonePe is seeking motivated Industrial Trainees to join the Payments Compliance team. This role is ideal for CA prospects with a strong interest in the Indian financial regulatory ecosystem and compliance management. The selected candidate will assist in monitoring, analyzing, and implementing regulatory practices for the Payments vertical while gaining exposure to real-time compliance operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze updates in Indian payment regulations (RBI, NPCI, etc.)
• Support the compliance team in responding to internal compliance-related queries
• Communicate progress on regulatory implementations with stakeholders
• Collect, organize, and maintain audit-compliant documentation and evidence
• Assist in creating compliance certifications and reporting structures
• Update internal compliance policies and frameworks based on regulatory changes
• Support in managing regulatory audits and observations
• Liaise with internal teams to facilitate understanding and closure of audit observations
• Conduct research on key topics such as KYC, AML, data localization, and transaction monitoring
• Maintain proper records of compliance activities and documentation

Role Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Basic understanding or keen interest in Indian payments regulations and financial compliance
• Familiarity with RBI guidelines, NPCI circulars, and AML regulations (PMLA, etc.)
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders efficiently
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• Audit, finance, or compliance-related coursework or certifications are a plus

Education Requirement

• Candidates pursuing Chartered Accountancy (CA)
• University graduates in commerce, law, finance, or related disciplines are preferred
