Role Overview: KYC Specialist

The KYC Specialist supports compliance for the PhonePe Offline Merchant Business. The role involves validating merchant documents accurately and ensuring that all verification activities follow the defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position requires strong attention to detail, strict process adherence, and timely completion of validation tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Document Validation and Verification

• Review and validate Know Your Customer (KYC) documents submitted by offline merchants.
• Verify the authenticity and accuracy of documents including proof of business, identity, address, entity details, and financial identity.
• Ensure submissions meet regulatory requirements and internal PhonePe guidelines.

Process Adherence and Quality

• Follow all defined SOPs and validation guidelines during document review.
• Maintain very high accuracy standards while validating and approving documents.
• Ensure strict compliance with process requirements since the activity is sensitive and time bound.

Analysis and Escalation

• Observe patterns in merchant document submissions and identify irregularities.
• Report suspicious or potentially fraudulent document patterns to managers for further investigation.
• Escalate complex or unclear cases that fall outside defined SOPs to relevant teams.

Compliance and Timeliness

• Complete validation tasks within defined service level agreements and internal timelines.
• Maintain adherence to regulatory standards and internal compliance policies.

Key Performance Metrics

• Average Handling Time: Time taken to complete the end to end validation process for each merchant file.
• Quality Score: Accuracy of validation decisions and adherence to SOPs measured through audits.
• Compliance Score: Alignment with regulatory requirements and internal compliance guidelines.
• Roster and Shift Adherence: Reliability in following assigned schedules and shift patterns.

Requirements

• 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
• High accuracy with strong attention to detail.
• Fast and precise typing ability with capability to review multilingual documents.
• Strong focus on compliance and process adherence.
• English reading is mandatory.
• Reading knowledge of any regional language such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, or Malayalam is preferred.
• Comfortable working six days a week with rotational week offs and rotational shifts (day shift only).
