Overview
Job Summary
- Develop HAL and peripheral device drivers for MCX, Crossover RT, and i.MX device families, including I2C Master/Slave, SPI Master/Slave, UART, USB, and related interfaces. These drivers are designed to operate in bare metal, ROM, and RTOS environments.
- Produce high quality, well documented, and thoroughly tested code that customers can use as reference implementations.
- Validate ROM code and other software deliverables using pre-silicon test and debug platforms such as RTL and emulation environments.
- Provide active technical support to key customers.
- Work with global teams to analyze, investigate, and resolve system level issues.
Key Challenges
- Developing ROM code before silicon hardware is available.
- Debugging and verifying issues in pre-silicon environments while achieving near complete test coverage.
- Strengthening critical code sections to protect ROM code from physical or logical attacks.
- Ensuring compliance with required safety and security standards.
Cross Functional Aspects
- ROM code development requires collaboration with multiple groups including SoC design teams, system architects, marketing, verification and validation leads, documentation teams, and software teams.
- New team members receive mentorship from experienced members of the System ROM team who have extensive experience in ROM development and architecture.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a focus on embedded software, or equivalent experience.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in a related domain is beneficial.
- Familiarity with ARM Assembly and programming in C, C++, Rust, or Python is an advantage.
- Understanding of embedded software development concepts, including device drivers and consumer embedded applications.
- Knowledge of technologies such as Flash, SPI, I2C, USB, UART, and CAN is preferred.
- Exposure to ARM and RISC-V architectures is desirable.
- Experience with GCC, GNU Make, and ARM toolchains such as IAR, Keil, or DS-5 is preferred.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools including JIRA and Bitbucket is beneficial.
- Experience working with hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes is considered a plus.
