Team Overview
Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage emphasizes strong client service along with disciplined process control, accuracy, and operational efficiency. The Client Services team operates globally with offices in New York, San Francisco, London, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Sydney.
The Prime Brokerage Account Manager team works closely with clients, primarily hedge funds, and acts as a key partner to the global prime brokerage organization. The Account Manager serves as a primary contact for clients, helping coordinate services across the firm, escalate issues, and ensure timely solutions.
The Mumbai team includes chartered accountants, MBAs, and finance professionals with strong analytical capabilities and a focus on continuous learning. Teams are structured around client requirements and supported by advanced automation tools and modern applications that enable efficient processing and quick responses to client needs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client issues as an account manager, overseeing client accounts across areas such as financing, margin, trade clearing and settlement, cash management, and corporate events.
- Act as a secondary or backup contact to support clients with matters related to trade settlement, cash management, asset transfers, and corporate actions.
- Communicate client issues clearly and ensure timely and accurate resolution.
- Conduct root cause analysis to improve straight through processing and reduce recurring client issues.
- Analyze data related to client balances, trends, and market share.
- Introduce clients to new prime brokerage technology platforms and reporting tools to keep them current with available capabilities.
- Perform checks related to regulatory or management controls including short sale violations, trade cancellations or corrections, aged settlements, and restricted currency holdings.
- Support hedge fund clients with due diligence requests from investors, manage fee schedules and billing accuracy, and assist with account opening or closing processes for fund changes.
- Coordinate with fund administrators and internal Morgan Stanley teams such as swaps, listed derivatives, finance, and stock loan groups to resolve inquiries.
- Resolve problems by collaborating with multiple internal teams across the firm.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Approximately 6 months to 2 years of experience in an investment bank or custodian bank, with exposure to capital markets and financial products.
- Chartered Accountant qualification or MBA from a recognized institute.
- Understanding of capital markets, including how financial products trade, settle, and are accounted for.
- Knowledge of prime brokerage operations.
- Familiarity with accounting principles.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Strong organizational ability and attention to detail.
- Capability to escalate issues appropriately and work across teams to resolve them.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
