Role Overview

Morgan Stanley is looking for an Associate to join the Firmwide Operations division within Core Services. The role focuses on overseeing risk and control operations related to core reconciliations. Responsibilities include managing internal risk metrics, incident management, system entitlement programs, and supporting internal reviews, testing, and audits.

The Operations division partners with business units across the firm to support financial transactions, implement effective controls, and strengthen client relationships. Core Services manages centralized operational activities across multiple businesses and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain reconciliation processes with well documented, current, and compliant procedures.
  • Improve control design and execution efficiency across operational processes.
  • Ensure processes align with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Work closely with teams across Risk, Finance, and Operations along with global stakeholders.
  • Participate in governance forums and risk discussions, presenting summaries of identified issues.
  • Proactively communicate key developments, risks, and exceptions to management.
  • Provide structured updates on business-as-usual performance and project deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within reconciliation activities.
  • Support transformation initiatives such as system migrations and control standardization.
  • Contribute to improvements in operating models to increase efficiency and scalability.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel usage including large data handling, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP functions.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and adherence to control standards.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and operate in fast paced environments.
  • Understanding of operational risk and control frameworks, including identification and remediation of control gaps.
  • Experience with exception management, issue tracking, and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial products such as equities, fixed income, and commodities.
  • Familiarity with reconciliation platforms and operational systems.
  • Awareness of regulatory environments affecting client assets and reconciliation processes.
  • Commitment to maintaining strong control standards and improving turnaround time for issue resolution.
