About the Program

Google operates one of the largest global networks serving millions of internet users. The Network Engineering team maintains this infrastructure with a focus on reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency. Engineers work on system design improvements, performance monitoring, and operational tasks to keep services running smoothly.

The Network Operations Residency Program (NORP) is a 16 month rotational program for new full time employees designed to build Network Implementation Engineering talent within Google Cloud’s Global Infrastructure organization. Participants complete two rotations focused on network engineering and related technical functions before moving into permanent Network Implementation Engineering roles after successful completion.

This program is designed to develop future leaders in networking technology. Residents gain hands-on exposure to large-scale infrastructure and collaborate with experienced engineers while solving complex operational challenges.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on exposure to network engineering and technical program management functions.
• Work with Google engineers to plan, deploy, and operate networking infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance and contribute to operational improvements.
• Develop creative solutions such as improved tooling, automation, and process enhancements that support the networking teams.
