About the Role
Uber is seeking a Decision Scientist Intern to join our team and leverage data-driven strategies to address complex challenges across risk, fraud, payments, customer support, and our Mobility and Delivery services. This 24-week internship offers the opportunity to collaborate with engineers, product managers, operations teams, and fellow data scientists to drive key metrics including fraud loss reduction, false positive minimization, contact rate improvement, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth data analysis to uncover actionable insights.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Uber's Risk, Compliance, Customer Support, Mobility, and Delivery operations.
- Participate in project scoping, definition, and idea generation in collaboration with global partners.
- Communicate findings effectively to management to support strategic decisions.
- Work under guidance to define and expand your area of expertise.
- Attend training sessions, functional reviews, and company-wide meetings.
- Maintain high engagement levels in Uber's fast-paced environment.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science, Maths & Computing, or Information Technology, graduating in 2026.
- Experience with data ETL processes and visualization using SQL and Python.
- Academic background in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative fields.
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Google Data Studio, Google Sheets, Excel, Python, and Tableau.
- Ability to define, apply, and communicate performance metrics effectively.
- Track record of applying analytical and statistical methods to solve real-world problems using big data.
- Experience in experimentation, A/B testing, and statistical modeling is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations.
- Passion for Uber's mission and values.
