Job Description
Purpose of the Role
The role works in partnership with the bank to provide independent assurance on control processes and recommend improvements. The aim is to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of the bank’s internal controls framework.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate across the bank to maintain a strong and efficient control environment by conducting ad hoc assessments and testing the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls aligned with policies and standards.
- Create detailed test plans and procedures to detect weaknesses in internal controls and support initiatives within the control framework to reduce risks, operational disruptions, financial loss, and reputational impact.
- Communicate key findings and observations to relevant stakeholders and business units, supporting improvements in control efficiency and recommending corrective actions for senior management.
- Work with other control professionals to resolve complex issues and maintain consistent testing practices across the organisation.
- Develop and maintain a knowledge repository that documents control assessments, testing outcomes, procedures, and findings while sharing materials that support training and upskilling of colleagues.

- Work with other business areas and functions, ensuring alignment and effective coordination.
- Take responsibility for operational outcomes, escalate policy or procedural breaches when required, and help embed updated policies related to risk mitigation.
- Provide advice and influence decision making within the relevant domain of expertise.
- Take ownership of managing risks and strengthening controls in all assigned responsibilities while complying with applicable rules, regulations, and codes of conduct.
- Maintain an understanding of how the sub function integrates with the broader function, including the organisation’s products, services, and processes.
- Analyse factual information carefully to make sound evaluative judgements and resolve issues by applying relevant experience and precedents.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively and act as a contact point for stakeholders beyond the immediate team.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, or MBA or BBA in Finance.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered Accountant, CIA, ACCA, or CMA.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of audit principles.
- Knowledge of risk management and internal controls.
- Familiarity with priority risk areas such as third party risk, fraud, change, and resilience.
Candidates may be assessed on capabilities including risk and control knowledge, change and transformation awareness, business acumen, strategic thinking, and relevant technical skills.
