About the Role

Grade Level: 07

S&P Global EBS provides managed and installed data services, delivering data, technology, and service solutions focused on complex Index and ETF data requirements. These services are used across the front, middle, and back offices of leading investment banks, asset managers, fund administrators, prime brokers, and hedge funds.

The Associate, Operations supports the daily operations of the EBS data offering. The role works with cross functional teams to identify solutions for operational issues and improve efficiency. The position also involves building technical tools and solutions using Excel, VBA, and SQL to address operational needs.

The team operates 24/7, and candidates should be comfortable working across different shifts, including US hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong understanding of index concepts and their calculation methodologies.
  • Validate and verify data received from multiple sources, ensuring it is stored correctly and reflected accurately across products.
  • Run or develop data quality checks and standards to maintain accurate datasets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of financial information for assigned products.
  • Respond to data queries from internal teams and external clients while supporting stakeholders.
  • Monitor market developments and research events to anticipate potential changes.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to perform root cause analysis and resolve operational issues.
  • Consolidate dataset information and help establish best practices for data processes.
  • Perform automated or semi-automated checks to maintain high quality content production.
  • Document and maintain Methods of Work (MOW).
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks according to team requirements.
  • Identify projects aimed at improving data quality and design practices.
  • Use Excel and SQL to support operational processes, including writing basic SQL queries.

Education and Experience

  • MBA in Finance, postgraduate qualification, or equivalent degree preferably in finance.
  • Understanding of equities and capital markets.
  • Knowledge of Index, ETF, and Corporate Actions is preferred.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in business operations.

Commercial Awareness

A strong interest in finance and awareness of global financial market developments is expected.
