About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Azure Cosmos DB team. This role involves working on large-scale distributed operational databases, solving complex distributed systems problems, and shaping the future of planet-scale databases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement services for real-time, scalable, performant, and sustainable solutions.
• Deliver well-tested features across multiple services and platforms.
• Apply engineering best practices throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure maintainable, reliable, and secure systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and deliver key milestones.
• Participate in live site rotations, monitoring systems for degradation or downtime.
• Identify and implement improvements in live-site processes and tools.
• Innovate for both customer needs and the overall health of the service.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with the .NET Framework.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building distributed cloud services using Azure or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of software testing and release methodologies.
• Strong design and analytical skills with a focus on engineering excellence at scale.
• Understanding of cloud computing business models and operational metrics.
• Background in data warehouse architecture and implementation at scale.
• Ability to work effectively and independently in dynamic environments.
