What you'll do:

Eaton's Product Stewardship & Sustainability CoE is seeking highly motivated individuals passionate about environmental accounting and the Sustainability domain. The Associate Engineer will support New Product Introduction and compliance with climate and environmental regulations for Eaton's ARS Electrical Business. This role helps address customer requests, tackle regulatory challenges, and create sustainability value propositions to win additional business.

Job Description:

  • Execute product compliance assessments across global regulations like RoHS, REACH, ODS, POP, CP-65, TSCA, etc.
  • Support end-to-end Compliance Management processes: coordinate with internal stakeholders (Engineering, SCM, Quality), collect and validate material declarations through supplier campaigns, perform substance screening and threshold analysis, maintain compliance records in PLM/compliance tools, and follow workflows to meet timelines.
  • Support preparation of customer compliance declarations and regulatory responses.
  • Support deployment of the Product Stewardship Workpackage in New Product Introduction, focusing on Ecodesign, EPR, and Product Stewardship Compliance.
  • Evaluate compliance with eco-design regulations (e.g., EU-ErP Directive).
  • Understand customer requirements and communicate them to other Eaton teams, acting as liaison for program activities.
  • Provide regular reports on development and support activities.
  • Interact with key customers/stakeholders to understand current and upcoming sustainability trends and their relevance to products.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvements to boost productivity and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate curiosity in studying upcoming regulatory requirements and communicate findings to the team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Chemical/Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical Engineering. 0-3 years of experience in Sustainability, product or technology development for industrial, electrical/electronic, or chemical products or processes.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of engineering, science, and arithmetic concepts (material, weight, volume, density, mass, units, measurement methods).
  • Good knowledge and working experience with sustainability regulations: WEEE, EPR, REACH, RoHS, CP65, TSCA, POP, ODS, etc.
  • Understanding of eco-design regulations (like ErP) and ability to work with product teams for compliance.
  • Sound fundamental engineering knowledge and electrical concepts.
  • Experience supporting/leading projects with multiple stakeholders in a matrix organization and strong project management experience.
  • Comfortable with data and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Hands-on experience with digital tools such as Excel Macros, Python, PowerBI/Power Automate is an added advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including explaining technical concepts.
  • Good judgment, time management, decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
