About the Role
S&P Global is seeking a detail-focused Data Analyst to join the Private Markets Data Operations team. This role is suited for early-career professionals interested in building expertise in Private Equity data, financial statements, fund structures, analytics, and automation.
The Impact
You will support the collection, validation, analysis, and maintenance of datasets sourced from Private Equity and alternative investment documents. The work contributes directly to the accuracy and timeliness of market data used by global clients for benchmarking and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Process and analyze financial documents from General and Limited Partners, including capital calls, distributions, financial statements, and investment schedules.
- Access GP portals and repositories to download, categorize, and tag fund-related documents with accurate metadata.
- Extract, standardize, and validate information from Private Equity documents such as capital account statements, cash flow statements, and investment schedules.
- Classify fund-level investments and portfolio company data using appropriate accounting breakouts.
- Perform quality checks, resolve exceptions from QC reviews and automated validation logs, and ensure compliance with data standards.
- Prepare routine reports and basic trend analysis for internal operational insights.
- Support data cleansing initiatives to improve dataset consistency and accuracy.
- Assist with process improvement, Lean initiatives, automation efforts, and SQL-based data activities.
- Maintain documentation of data collection and validation procedures for audit and reference purposes.
- Work with team members to meet quality and delivery targets.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects related to automation, business expansion, and data enhancement.
Domain Knowledge & Skills
Basic understanding of Private Equity, Real Estate, or Alternative Investment operations is preferred, including investor reporting and fund accounting concepts. Awareness of capital markets and alternative investments is also preferred.
Experience
- 0 to 1 year of experience in Fund Administration, Private Equity Operations, or Financial Data Processing.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of SQL and Python, with familiarity in BI tools considered an advantage.
- Exposure to automation tools, Lean methodologies, or GenAI tools is beneficial.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles such as GAAP.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven team environment and support global shift schedules when required.
Shift & Work Schedule
- The role follows a global delivery model and may require rotational shifts aligned with Asia, EMEA, and US business hours.
- Extended working hours may be required during quarter-end or year-end reporting periods.
