About the Role
The Metals & Mining Industry Content team gathers data related to the global mining sector, covering early-stage exploration projects, operational mines, and processing facilities. The team also compiles information on drill intersections and mining or exploration claims across multiple countries. The group maintains global coverage of more than 60 commodities and over 40,000 mining properties and projects.
Teams located in India, Manila, Islamabad, and Halifax collaborate to publish accurate and timely datasets that support informed business decisions for clients analyzing the global mining and metals markets.
The Impact
The department delivers comprehensive and reliable data used by both internal and external stakeholders. Data analysts contribute by collecting, maintaining, and processing datasets that support business analysis and industry intelligence. The role focuses on maintaining data quality and updating datasets using internal tools.
Apprenticeship Program
This apprenticeship is a skill development program governed by the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 (India). Participants gain practical experience by working alongside industry professionals on meaningful tasks that help develop technical and analytical capabilities.
The program includes networking opportunities, exposure to business insights, and structured learning resources designed to support early career growth. S&P Global invites fresh graduates and postgraduates from the 2025 and 2026 batches to participate in this 12‑month apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clearly defined tasks and transactions following detailed instructions and established procedures.
- Enter and update data in internal tools according to provided guidelines and checklists.
- Capture detailed information related to datasets tracked by the Metals & Mining Industry Content department.
- Prepare daily work reports using reporting tools, including identifying and validating potential data errors.
- Review feedback on submitted content and assist in correcting errors while improving procedures for better accuracy.
- Meet individual and team performance targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate within the team and interact with related teams to complete assigned tasks.
- Work under supervision to ensure outputs meet defined performance and quality benchmarks.
- Build knowledge of mining industry data and reporting standards.
- Complete internal learning modules and compliance training.
- Support process improvement initiatives aligned with LEAN and automation practices.
- Contribute to team objectives and continuous operational improvements.
Basic Qualifications
- Fresh graduates with backgrounds in Geology or Engineering such as B.Sc. Geology or B.E. in Chemical, Civil, or Computer disciplines with a 2025 passing year.
- Postgraduates such as M.Sc. or M.Tech specializing in Geology or Geoinformatics with a 2025 or 2026 passing year.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts if required, although the primary schedule is a day shift.
- Comfortable using computers and digital tools for data-related tasks.
- Ability to work in a team environment while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Attention to detail with a persistent and methodical approach to work.
- Strong numerical and analytical thinking when interpreting datasets.
