About NATS Apprenticeship Program
The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme is a program where Volvo India engages freshly graduated individuals for year-long apprenticeships, providing practical training and skills development opportunities within the company's various functions. It's a way for Volvo to train future workforce members through a structured apprenticeship program.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Learn and support quality teams in addressing supplier quality issues using QC tools including Six Sigma approach.
- Learn and lead successful implementation of industry recognized APQP and PPAP (AIAG) policies and procedures for sourced parts.
- Actively support purchasing with supplier development activities to improve quality, efficiency, and cost.
- Support the purchasing department in maintaining compliance (ISO9001/ISO14001 certification) of suppliers, including participating in audits and other sustainability initiatives.
- Manage business relationships with suppliers, including implementation of continuous improvement philosophy.
- Act as liaison between supplier, purchasing, engineering, and operations in the development of new parts and changes to existing parts.
- Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo CE goals and objectives.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge in manufacturing processes like fabrication, castings, forgings, wiring harness assembly, rubber molding, heat treatment, surface finishing, etc.
- Knowledge in quality methods and tools (APQP/PPAP, Lean, Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement).
- Knowledge in project management fundamentals.
- Good communication, verbal and written in English.
- Good analytical skills and logical way of thinking.
- Committed to customer satisfaction and drive change management.
- Self-driven with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Business acumen and ownership mentality.
- Capability to work in multicultural teams in a cross-functional global organization.

- Work with CE supplier base across India region.
- Meetings: supplier, quality review, business review.
- Training: quality systems and tools to suppliers.
Internal:
- Meetings: commodity team, project, SD team governance, plant quality.
- Product quality council and product maintenance review.
