Job Description
The Payments Processing Operator is responsible for accurate and timely handling of different types of payments, including the processing of physical cash and valuables, along with managing cash-related investigations. The role includes processing time-sensitive and sometimes complex transactions for the bank’s internal and external clients, as well as responding to enquiries related to cash payments before and after execution.
This position involves performing regulated and time‑critical activities while coordinating with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Role Overview
- Capture and process payment transactions accurately, including physical cash or valuables transactions.
- Ensure payment information and associated parties are processed according to established service level agreements and industry standards.
- Follow operational procedures carefully to minimize processing risks and identify areas where processes can be improved.
- Interact with clients when required regarding payment processing services offered by the bank.
- Handle escalations and assist with resolving client concerns while maintaining coordination with front office teams and other stakeholders.
Processing Standards
- Process transactions according to defined procedures and within specified cut‑off times.
- Support day‑to‑day operational activities and coordinate with the sending location for clarifications.
- Communicate process updates and clarifications received from sending locations to the team.
- Collect and report data on process issues to the manager.
- Complete end‑of‑day activities based on defined checklists and maintain the necessary records.
- Ensure all self‑assessment reports and supporting documents are reviewed, signed, and countersigned by the responsible authorities.
- Maintain records of procedural updates and communicate changes in the KOP to the manager.
- Support the training of new team members according to the training module.
- Ensure proper operational backups are maintained within the department.
Escalation
- Escalate issues to supervisors and managers following established escalation procedures.
- Inform the Team Manager about exceptional situations so appropriate action can be taken.
- Ensure all operational procedures are followed and internal regulatory requirements are met.
- Raise process‑related ambiguities with supervisors or managers for clarification.
Compliance and Business Contribution
- Report potential business opportunities identified during regular transaction processing.
- Support management in initiatives aimed at business development.
- Meet assigned job objectives within the agreed timelines.
- Contribute ideas that help improve service quality and operational excellence.
- Conduct monthly departmental self‑assessments using defined checklists and document control gaps along with suggested corrective actions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure all updates and amendments to the KOP are completed within defined timelines.
- Assist in training activities for new recruits and conduct assessments such as quizzes or tests.
- Maintain training documentation and records.
- Support the manager in preparing team‑related MIS reports.

Skills and Experience
- Understanding of payment processing flows
- Working knowledge of SWIFT
- Knowledge of risk and regulatory requirements
- Experience or exposure to payments and back‑office banking operations
- Minimum graduation in any discipline
