Job Description

Loans and lending commitments are often a key part of the relationships Deutsche Bank holds with its corporate and financial institution clients. Relationship loans are usually issued to support franchise revenues booked by product lines across the Corporate Bank and Investment Bank divisions.

Strategic Corporate Lending ("SCL") governs how loan capital is invested into these client relationships and manages the approved final hold positions down to thresholds set by Credit Risk Management. SCL owns the loan risk it hedges within its mainly senior, unsecured Institutional and Corporate Credit portfolio.

SCL hedges final hold positions down to the set thresholds using single name CDS and CLO issuance referencing the underlying loan risk. The SCL Client Analytics team supports the loan execution team by preparing Capital Allocation Forum (CAF) memos, which help SCL regional heads make lending decisions. The team also builds tools to monitor cross-selling activity and assess the profitability of relationship lending.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed business selection memoranda using quantitative and qualitative criteria to support case-by-case decisions on relationship lending.
• Help compile and produce quarterly portfolio reports that track performance across divisions, regions, industries and countries.
• Independently handle ongoing client analysis and support new analytical requests from senior management.
• Work with cross-functional teams to implement strategic initiatives and uphold portfolio management best practices.
• Improve processes by automating existing workflows and driving operational efficiency within the team.

Skills and Experience

• Strong quantitative and analytical ability, with proficiency in Microsoft products. Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau is an asset.
• Meticulous attention to detail, producing audit-ready documentation and actively pursuing process improvements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, engaging proactively with cross-functional teams.

Proven ability to use AI tools to improve productivity and optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to use data and AI outputs responsibly and ethically.
