Morgan Stanley is Hiring Fund Accounting Associate (Bengaluru)

About the Role

We are looking for an Associate to join our Fund Accounting team. In this role, you will make sure hedge fund clients receive accurate daily NAV calculations. You will also act on client requests to update their portfolios in Morgan Stanley Portfolio Accounting (MSPA), the accounting and reporting system of Morgan Stanley Fund Services (MSFS). You will work with the Account Manager to review accounting and performance issues.

The MSFS Accounting group provides comprehensive portfolio accounting services, including daily reconciliations, NAV calculations and daily or weekly return estimates. The team includes specialists with experience in hedge funds, private equity, audit and prime brokerage, and it values collaboration, precision and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accounting solutions to hedge funds for independent valuation, investor transparency and regulatory compliance.
• Calculate daily NAV.
• Review MSPA to custodian reconciliations, identify the cause of breaks and notify the Account Manager. Make necessary adjustments where a break results from an erroneous or missing transaction in MSPA.
• Perform middle office functions, including P&L analysis, daily cash projections, FX transfer calculations for funding, and checks on client contributions and redemptions.
• Review general ledger exceptions, identify the cause and make necessary adjustments.
• Verify performance by reviewing large P&L swings and analysing income and expense journals for validity.
• Adjust activity as needed for performance (MSPM) processing and reporting.
• Accrue daily or monthly non-security accruals, including management fees and financing accruals.
• Process non-automated transactions, including OTC derivatives and related cash movements.
• Perform daily and monthly securities pricing analysis.
• Validate and process corporate action data.
• Provide audit support and help funds prepare financial statements.
• Assist with compliance functions.
