Role Overview

The Finance Accounting Analyst 1 is an entry-level professional role focused on analyzing financial data, reviewing processes, and supporting accounting operations. The position applies specialized knowledge to monitor, assess, and interpret financial information while identifying inconsistencies and recommending improvements to policies or procedures.

This role contributes to the team by supporting day-to-day accounting activities such as closing books, managing sub-ledgers, posting adjustments, and consolidating financial statements at the end of each reporting period.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation Accounting Process

  • Manage compensation portfolios including equity, pension, severance, and incentive compensation.
  • Ensure accruals and adjustments are calculated accurately and posted within defined timelines.
  • Support the analysis and submission of reports required for US GAAP, US regulatory, and local statutory reporting.
  • Monitor progress and highlight unusual financial items to senior leadership when necessary.
  • Maintain internal controls by embedding control checks in files and reviewing them during process audits.
  • Assist in identifying process improvement or standardization initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce processing time, and lower error rates.
  • Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with financial standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow regional and global procedures and internal policies.
  • Handle operational accounting and reporting for compensation lines across regions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis.
  • Prepare accounting reconciliations and ensure accurate reporting using Citi reporting tools.
  • Prepare accounts in accordance with global accounting guidelines.
  • Support the implementation of procedures and reporting processes.
  • Deliver routine accounting outputs and ensure adherence to key process controls.
  • Escalate issues related to transactions, reporting, or procedures when required.
  • Use knowledge of accounting procedures and related processes to resolve operational issues.
  • Evaluate options using prior experience when circumstances fall outside documented procedures.

The role operates with limited direct supervision and has a focused impact on the quality of outputs delivered within the team.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in accounting management. Experience in compensation accounting is preferred.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) fresher, Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Working knowledge of financial regulations and monthly ledger variance analysis.
  • Ability to prepare clear written and verbal communication in a professional environment.
