Overview
Automation Engineer
Caterpillar is seeking an Automation Engineer to support robotics software development and testing activities. The role involves collaborating with senior engineers to help deliver solutions that meet internal and external customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Collect and research customer experience data related to robotic platforms and prepare reports for management.
- Document architecture specifications, software design descriptions, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures.
- Use suitable tools to debug, test, and maintain robotic software and hardware systems while supporting verification and validation activities.
- Participate in the design and development of application software and algorithms for robotic platforms.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of industry trends, regulations, products, and services related to the engineering domain.
- Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and diagnostic approaches for operational and technical issues.
- Familiarity with software development life cycle methodologies and product development processes.
- Ability to participate in software product testing, including functional and performance testing activities.
- Knowledge of application development tools and system development toolkits.
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, technologies, and methodologies.
- Programming knowledge with the ability to write, debug, troubleshoot, and maintain source code.
- Experience with technical troubleshooting for software, hardware, and application-related issues.
Education Requirement
A degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum is required.
