Job Description

Purpose of the role

The role focuses on monitoring and maintaining the bank's critical technology infrastructure while resolving complex technical issues. The objective is to minimise operational disruption and ensure stable system performance across environments.

Accountabilities

  • Provide technical support to the service management function to address complex issues for specific clients or client groups, while enhancing the support model and service delivery for stakeholders.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on hardware and software systems. Use monitoring tools and operational metrics to detect, prevent and resolve potential performance issues.
  • Maintain a knowledge base with detailed documentation of resolved incidents to support future reference, self‑service capabilities and knowledge sharing.
  • Review system logs, error messages and user reports to identify root causes of hardware, software or network issues, and resolve them through hardware replacement, software reinstallation or configuration adjustments.
  • Support initiatives related to automation, monitoring improvements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity and front office technology support while coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks that may impact service delivery and remediate them or escalate through the appropriate processes.
  • Continuously review support activities and introduce automation where appropriate to maintain system stability and improve operational efficiency. Tune monitoring tools, thresholds and alerts so issues are detected promptly.

  • Build knowledge of the principles and concepts that underpin the work area while strengthening operational expertise.

  • Evaluate previous experiences and determine appropriate solutions when situations fall outside documented procedures.
  • Communicate sensitive or complex information to customers when required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to understand and address their requirements.

Required Skills

  • Operating systems including Windows and UNIX/Linux environments
  • Monitoring tools such as Netcool
  • Understanding of ITIL or Service First practices
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Tableau
