Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The role focuses on ensuring the bank maintains sufficient liquidity to meet both short term and long term financial obligations. It involves supporting the development and execution of strategies that manage the bank's liquidity position effectively.

Accountabilities

  • Support the development and execution of funding and liquidity strategies that manage the bank’s liquidity position while meeting regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite.
  • Analyse and quantify the regulatory and behavioural liquidity risk impact of transactions performed by business units.
  • Collaborate with key business units to maintain effective liquidity management within defined constraints.
  • Monitor key liquidity metrics and trends, and recommend actions to maintain funding and liquidity levels within acceptable limits.
  • Manage intra-group funding arrangements to ensure subsidiaries remain properly funded within balance sheet, exposure and capital constraints.
  • Assist in designing and implementing stress testing methodologies to evaluate liquidity resilience during financial shocks, economic downturns and sector specific crises.
  • Review stress test outcomes and support the development of mitigation strategies for potential liquidity shortfalls.
  • Help build new tools, analytical models and data processes that enhance funding and liquidity management capabilities.

  • Develop strong technical knowledge in the assigned domain and maintain a clear understanding of the underlying principles.
  • Support coordination with related teams and business functions.
  • Take responsibility for operational activities and outcomes within the assigned area.
  • Escalate any breaches of policy or procedure when required.
  • Assist with implementing new policies or procedures introduced for risk mitigation.
  • Contribute insights and advice to support decision making within the function.
  • Manage risk appropriately and ensure work is delivered in line with applicable rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
  • Build an understanding of how the sub function integrates with broader organisational processes, products and services.
  • Use factual analysis and attention to detail to make sound evaluations and recommendations.
  • Resolve issues by applying technical knowledge and following established precedents.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information and collaborate with stakeholders when required.
  • Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate team and develop a network across functions.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across reporting teams in multiple locations.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Understanding of balance sheet structures and finance processes.
  • Knowledge of control and governance frameworks.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting the implementation of control frameworks.
  • Understanding of treasury or risk systems used within banking environments.
  • Prior reporting experience in a bank or financial institution.
