Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The role focuses on ensuring the bank maintains adequate liquidity to meet both short term and long term financial obligations. It involves supporting the development and execution of strategies that manage the bank’s liquidity position effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of funding and liquidity strategies that align with regulatory requirements and the bank’s risk appetite while maintaining efficient funding costs.
  • Analyse and quantify the regulatory and behavioural liquidity risk impact of transactions carried out by business units.
  • Collaborate with key business units to help manage liquidity levels and maintain compliance with internal constraints.
  • Monitor important liquidity metrics and trends, providing recommendations to maintain funding and liquidity within acceptable limits.
  • Assist in managing intra group funding arrangements so subsidiaries remain adequately funded within balance sheet, capital, and exposure limits.
  • Contribute to the design and execution of stress testing methodologies to evaluate liquidity resilience under financial shocks, economic downturns, or sector specific disruptions.
  • Analyse stress testing outcomes and help develop mitigation actions to address potential liquidity gaps.
  • Support the creation of tools, models, and data analysis approaches that strengthen the bank’s funding and liquidity management capabilities.

Analyst Expectations

  • Carry out assigned activities within defined timelines while maintaining high quality standards and continuously seeking improvements.
  • Develop strong technical understanding of the relevant concepts and principles related to the assigned domain.
  • Collaborate with related teams and functions to support operational processes and shared objectives.
  • Take responsibility for outcomes related to operational processing and ensure adherence to established procedures.
  • Escalate policy or procedure breaches when required and support the implementation of updated controls introduced for risk mitigation.
  • Provide informed input to decision making within the area of expertise and contribute to strengthening risk management controls.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of how the sub function integrates with the wider organisation and its products, services, and processes.
  • Apply analytical judgement using factual data, paying close attention to detail while resolving issues using prior knowledge and established precedents.
  • Communicate complex information effectively and act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate team when required.

Required Skills and Background

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities with the capability to collaborate with reporting teams across locations.
  • Good presentation capability.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Understanding of balance sheet structures and finance related processes.
  • Knowledge of control and governance frameworks.
  • Educational background in CA, CWA, CS, MBA, Finance, Commerce, or Economics.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to supporting the rollout of control frameworks.
  • Familiarity with treasury or risk systems used within banking environments.
  • Previous reporting related experience within a bank or financial institution.
