Job Description

The role focuses on building and maintaining infrastructure platforms that support applications and data systems. This includes working with hardware, software, networks, and cloud technologies to ensure systems remain reliable, scalable, and secure. The engineer applies software engineering practices, automation, and incident response methods to maintain availability and performance.

Purpose of the Role

Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure solutions that support business applications and data platforms. The objective is to ensure stable, scalable, and secure systems through automation, engineering best practices, and proactive operational management.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Engineering: Develop, deliver, and maintain reliable infrastructure solutions aligned with business needs. Identify appropriate technologies to support performance, reliability, and usability requirements.
• Incident Management: Monitor infrastructure and system performance to detect, investigate, and resolve potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use operational data to reduce mean time to resolution.
• Automation: Implement automated processes and scripts that improve efficiency and minimize manual operational tasks.
• Security: Apply secure configurations and safeguards that protect infrastructure from cyber threats and unauthorized access, covering hardware, software, and data assets.
• Collaboration: Work with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to define infrastructure requirements and implement solutions that align with business objectives.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry technologies and contribute to internal technology communities to encourage technical growth and innovation.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation.
• Support day to day operations of VMware infrastructure including ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
• Assist with patching, upgrades, and firmware updates across the virtualization environment.
• Participate in automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to virtualization platforms and underlying infrastructure.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as vRealize Operations or similar platforms.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to VMware NSX and HCX.
• Awareness of vRealize Automation or Orchestration tools.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD practices.
