Purpose of the role

Design, develop, and enhance software solutions using modern engineering methodologies to deliver business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-standard programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, secure, and optimized for performance.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and implement effective solutions.
• Participate in peer reviews and support a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Follow secure coding practices to reduce vulnerabilities and protect sensitive information.
• Implement unit testing practices to improve code reliability and readability.
• Contribute to technology communities and stay updated on industry trends and innovations.

As a Full Stack Engineer at Barclays, you will help develop and improve digital solutions while working with experienced engineers on scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.

Required Skills and Experience

• Basic understanding of software development principles, coding standards, and software design concepts.
• Knowledge of programming technologies such as Java 17+, Spring Boot, JavaScript, Node.js, or Angular.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices concepts, and version control systems like Git.
• Understanding of databases, debugging, and application troubleshooting.
• Awareness of cloud and container technologies including AWS, OpenShift, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Interest in secure coding, testing methodologies, and modern development tools.
• Experience contributing to software development, testing, debugging, and support activities.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver software solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and DevOps tools.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture, messaging systems, or Kafka.
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability concepts.
