Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The role focuses on managing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the organisation’s financial reporting processes.

Accountabilities

  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements and maintain accounting records in line with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, and report these risks to senior stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal control systems to safeguard assets, prevent misreporting, and maintain reliable financial data. This includes periodic reviews to identify and address control gaps.
  • Support the development and implementation of updated financial policies and procedures to ensure consistent financial practices across the organisation.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and applications, working with IT teams to integrate them with enterprise platforms.
  • Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports, while also supporting other departments during preparation and review of such reports.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities during audits and examinations.

  • Apply technical knowledge within the area of expertise and build a clear understanding of related principles and processes.

  • Develop subject matter expertise and act as a point of reference for others when required.
  • Collaborate with different teams and business functions to support operational processing and related activities.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and escalate any breaches of procedures when necessary.
  • Support the implementation of new policies or procedures introduced for risk mitigation.
  • Provide insights and influence decision-making within the area of responsibility.
  • Take ownership of managing risk and strengthening internal controls related to assigned work.
  • Build understanding of how the sub-function connects with the wider organisation, including products, services, and processes.
  • Use factual analysis to make informed judgements while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Resolve issues by applying technical experience and referencing established practices.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and guide team members when required.
  • Act as a point of contact for stakeholders outside the immediate team and develop a professional network across the organisation.

Basic / Essential Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant such as CA, CMA, or ACCA.
  • Strong academic background with a first-class bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution.
  • Exposure to month-end or quarter-end reporting environments, control-focused roles, or finance automation activities is beneficial.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.

Desirable Skills

  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and understand their requirements.
  • Knowledge of key accounting principles under IFRS.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
