Purpose of the Role
The role focuses on overseeing the financial aspects of trading activities. The position ensures the accuracy and integrity of the bank's trading book, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, and provides insights into trading performance.
Accountabilities
- Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks and confirm they align with valued positions in the trading book, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Assist with identifying, assessing, and mitigating trading risks, while reporting financial risk insights to senior colleagues.
- Maintain and analyze trading data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency, and provide insights on trading performance to traders and leadership.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities and support external audits by addressing auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are accurately reflected in financial statements.
- Communicate complex financial information effectively to traders, risk professionals, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to support coordinated trading activities.

- Develop strong technical knowledge within the assigned domain and understand the key principles relevant to the function.
- Supervise or guide team members where applicable, allocate tasks, and support professional development.

- Collaborate with different business areas and functions to achieve operational objectives.
- Take responsibility for operational outcomes and escalate policy or procedure breaches when required.
- Support the adoption of new procedures introduced for risk mitigation and control improvement.
- Provide input that influences decisions within the area of expertise.
- Maintain strong risk management practices and ensure work aligns with relevant regulations and internal policies.
- Build understanding of how the sub-function integrates with the wider organization, including products, services, and operational processes.
- Make evaluative decisions using factual analysis and attention to detail.
- Resolve issues by applying technical knowledge and established precedents.
- Act as a point of contact for stakeholders outside the immediate function and build professional networks within and outside the organization.
