Job Description
Purpose of the Role
This role oversees the financial aspects of trading activity, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the bank's trading book. The position also supports compliance with regulatory standards and provides insights into trading performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks and ensure they match the valued positions in the trading book. Investigate and resolve differences so the figures reflect the true economic value of the portfolio.
- Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating trading risks and report financial risk insights to senior colleagues.
- Maintain and analyse trading data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency while providing insights to traders and management.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to authorities and support external audits by addressing auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are correctly reflected in financial statements.
- Communicate complex financial information clearly to traders, risk teams, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate across functions to maintain a coordinated approach to trading activities.

- Manage risk and strengthen controls in line with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Understand how the sub-function integrates with broader organisational processes, products, and services.
- Analyse factual information carefully to make sound evaluative judgments.
- Resolve issues by applying technical knowledge and referencing established precedents.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

In this role, you will work closely with the Product Control team to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial books and records, including P&L and balance sheet substantiation. The position involves monitoring trading activity for policy compliance and delivering technical and operational analysis to management. Collaboration with Front Office teams, Financial Control, Technical Accounting, Change Management, Technology, and other infrastructure functions is part of the role.
Required Skills
- Experience using the MS Office toolkit.
- Qualified accountant.
- Ability to communicate and present information effectively in both formal and informal settings while working with global teams.
- Strong control awareness, including the ability to identify potential control breakdowns and improve processes efficiently.
Preferred Background
- Articleship or industrial trainee experience in mid to large sized firms.
- Audit exposure within large financial institutions or banks.
