Job Description
Purpose of the role
The role focuses on overseeing the financial aspects of trading activities. The analyst ensures accuracy and integrity of the bank's trading book, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, and provides insights into trading performance.
Accountabilities
- Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks, ensuring alignment with valued positions in the trading book and investigating any discrepancies.
- Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating trading risks, while reporting financial risk exposures to senior colleagues.
- Maintain and analyse trading data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency, and provide insights on trading performance to traders and leadership.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities and support external audits by addressing auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are accurately reflected in financial statements.
- Communicate complex financial information clearly to traders, risk professionals, senior stakeholders, and external parties.
- Work collaboratively across functions to support a coordinated approach to trading activities.

- Complete assigned activities on time while maintaining high quality standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop strong technical knowledge within the assigned area of expertise and maintain a clear understanding of underlying financial concepts.
- Where required, guide team members, allocate work, and support professional development while coordinating team resources.
- For individual contributor roles, build subject matter expertise and provide advisory support within the work area.
- Collaborate with related teams and partner with other functions across the organisation.
- Take responsibility for the outcomes of operational processes and activities managed by the team.
- Escalate policy or procedure breaches when necessary and support implementation of new policies introduced for risk mitigation.
- Influence decision making within the area of expertise and contribute to strengthening risk controls.
- Maintain an understanding of how the sub-function integrates with the wider organisation, including knowledge of products, services, and operational processes.
- Analyse factual information carefully, make evaluative judgments, and resolve problems using established precedents and technical knowledge.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
