This role focuses on managing financial operations and ensuring that financial reporting remains accurate, reliable, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.

Purpose of the Role

The position supports the integrity of financial processes by overseeing reporting activities, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements and accounting records in line with applicable accounting standards, rules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, and report key risk matters to senior colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal control systems to safeguard assets, prevent misreporting, and ensure the reliability of financial data.
  • Regularly review internal control frameworks and address any identified weaknesses or gaps.
  • Create and implement updated financial policies and procedures to support consistent financial practices across the organisation.
  • Manage the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and applications, working with IT teams to integrate these with broader enterprise systems.
  • Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports, and support other departments during the preparation and review of regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities during audits and examinations.

  • Complete assigned activities within defined timelines while maintaining a high standard of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Apply technical knowledge and understanding of financial concepts within the assigned domain.
  • Contribute to team outcomes and collaborate with related teams and business functions.
  • Support operational activities and take responsibility for outcomes related to financial processing and reporting.
  • Escalate policy or procedural breaches when identified and support the implementation of risk mitigation measures.
  • Provide input to decision making within the area of expertise and contribute to strengthening risk controls.
  • Maintain awareness of how the sub-function aligns with the wider organisational structure, products, and processes.
  • Analyse information carefully and make sound judgements based on factual data.
  • Resolve issues by applying relevant technical knowledge and established precedents.
  • Engage with stakeholders inside and outside the team while building a professional network.

Qualifications include a professional accounting certification such as CA, CMA, or ACCA, along with a strong academic background and a first-class bachelor's degree from a recognised institution. Exposure to month-end or quarter-end reporting environments, control functions, or finance automation activities is beneficial. Advanced Excel capability and knowledge of IFRS accounting principles are useful for this position.
