Job Description
Purpose of the role
This role involves overseeing the financial aspects of trading activities. It ensures the accuracy and integrity of the bank's trading book, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, and provides insights into trading performance.
Accountabilities
- Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks, ensuring alignment with valued positions in the trading book. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between P&L figures to reflect the true economic value of the trading portfolio.
- Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of trading risks, and report on these financial risks to senior colleagues.
- Maintain and analyze the bank’s trading data, ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Provide insights to traders and senior colleagues on trading performance.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to authorities. Provide support for external audits, including addressing auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are appropriately reflected in financial statements.
- Effectively communicate complex financial information to traders, risk professionals, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a coordinated approach to trading activities.

- Demonstrate understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to achieving the objectives of the organization's sub-function.
- Make evaluative judgments based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.
- Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience, guided by precedents.
- Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex/sensitive information.
- Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside the team and external to the organization.

Required Skills
- Experienced with MS Office toolkit (Word, PPT, Excel, Access Database etc.).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings. Ability to interact with regional and UK/US teams as part of a global team (written and verbal).
- Strong control awareness, particularly the ability to identify and escalate potential control breakdowns and to streamline processes effectively and efficiently.
- Possess the initiative and ability to break down problems into component parts and resolve them.
- Attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Confident and assertive manner.
Highly Valued Skills
- CFA/Master’s in Finance/Financial Engineering would be an advantage.
- Article ship/Industrial trainee experience in mid to large-sized firms.
- Audit exposure in large financial institutions/banks preferred.
