Role Summary

Ontic is seeking an Associate Software Engineer (Frontend) to help build user interfaces for its SaaS platform. The position is designed for early-career engineers who want to strengthen their foundation in frontend development and software engineering practices.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers to create UI features, resolve issues, and enhance existing user experiences. The role focuses on writing reliable code, learning frontend fundamentals, and gradually becoming an independent contributor.

Development and Implementation

• Develop user interfaces and features using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS
• Implement defined UI components and flows with guidance from senior engineers
• Integrate frontend functionality with backend services through APIs

Code Quality and Best Practices

• Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code aligned with engineering standards
• Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to improve quality
• Follow recommended practices for component design, state management, and accessibility

Learning and Technical Growth

• Develop knowledge of frontend architecture, component based design, and application state
• Apply best practices for debugging, testing, and performance optimization
• Gain exposure to modern frontend tooling and build systems

Collaboration

• Work with engineers, designers, and product teams to deliver assigned tasks
• Communicate progress, blockers, and questions clearly
• Incorporate feedback from product and design stakeholders

Production Awareness

• Assist with debugging and resolving issues in development and production environments
• Build familiarity with logging, monitoring, and performance tracking tools
• Understand browser behavior and frontend performance fundamentals

Qualifications and Experience

• 0 to 2 years of software engineering experience, including internships, academic, or personal projects
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Understanding of React or a similar frontend framework
• Knowledge of programming fundamentals, data structures, and problem solving concepts
• Familiarity with REST APIs and asynchronous programming such as promises or async/await
• Exposure to version control systems like Git
• Awareness of the frontend development lifecycle including build tools, bundling, and deployment basics
• Hands-on project experience through academic, personal, or open source work
