Overview
Role Summary
Entry-level software engineering role focused on developing and maintaining software-in-the-loop (SIL) automated tests for safety-critical, real-time embedded medical device software running on microcontroller-based systems. The position involves validating firmware behavior using simulation and automation frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Review software requirements, design documents, and manual test procedures to derive SIL test cases with proper traceability.
- Create automated test scripts in Python within the existing SIL framework.
- Enhance the SIL framework and simulation environment to support testing needs.
- Run regression tests, evaluate outcomes, and debug test failures.
- Participate in design and code reviews to ensure test script and framework quality.
- Work closely with embedded software engineers to understand system functionality and requirements.
- Support improvements in test coverage, simulation fidelity, and framework capabilities.
- Integrate automated tests with development workflows using Azure DevOps and GitHub.
- Perform Computer System Validation (CSV) activities to meet regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Communications, or a related discipline.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in embedded software development using C/C++ on microcontroller-based systems.
- Hands-on experience with Python scripting or automation.
- Understanding of real-time system concepts such as scheduling, interrupts, and timing behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to RTOS platforms including ThreadX or FreeRTOS.
- Knowledge of software testing methods including unit, integration, or system testing.
- Familiarity with embedded system debugging and log analysis.
- Basic experience with test frameworks, simulators, or CI workflows.
