Overview
NatWest Group is hiring a Software Engineer on a six‑month fixed term contract. The role offers the chance to take on new technical challenges, collaborate with stakeholders at different levels, and continue developing your engineering skills.
You will work within a feature team to build and maintain secure, high performance and customer focused solutions. The role involves developing software, scripts and tools that can be complex, while working closely with engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.
What you'll do
As part of the engineering team, you will contribute to building reliable and scalable software solutions that support business needs. The position involves working across the full software development life cycle.
- Develop complex and business critical software quickly while maintaining high quality standards
- Work in long standing teams responsible for the entire lifecycle, from development and enhancements to maintenance and eventual replacement
- Collaborate with peers to strengthen overall software engineering capabilities
- Design, develop, test and implement production ready code
- Participate in the full lifecycle including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment and operational support
The skills you'll need
A background in software engineering, design and architecture is required, along with an understanding of how technical solutions support customer outcomes. Candidates with a B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science or a related field may apply, with or without prior experience.
- Experience using development tools, testing tools, bug tracking systems and documentation wikis
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages or low code development platforms
- Hands on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and React, along with basic knowledge of AI and RAG concepts
- Ability to solve complex analytical and numerical problems
- Understanding of engineering best practices related to scalability, automation, virtualization, optimisation, availability and performance
