About the Role

The apprentice will join the Index Management & Production Group (IMPG), the team responsible for maintaining and calculating S&P Dow Jones Indices. This group ensures that index benchmarks accurately reflect market performance and support informed decisions by investors and institutions.

As part of the program, apprentices gain exposure to several teams within the Index Management and Production Group. The role provides opportunities to interact with senior business leaders, build professional communication skills, and contribute to projects that support the calculation and maintenance of S&P Dow Jones Indices.

Responsibilities

• Use Excel, automated tools, and other platforms to perform data analysis and research on S&P Dow Jones index constituents.
• Conduct analytical research on companies for annual Investable Weight Factor (IWF) reviews, quarterly share updates, corporate events, and classifications.
• Propose ideas that apply Data Science or Artificial Intelligence to improve product quality and operational processes.
• Support index related projects while meeting defined deadlines.
• Utilize data vendor software to assist in the ongoing maintenance of indices.
• Collaborate with the operations group to discuss research findings and enhance operational efficiency.

Program Overview

The Index Management and Production Group apprentice program is an eleven month, full time opportunity beginning in June 2026. It is designed to attract high performing students and graduates from diverse academic backgrounds.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
• All majors are eligible, with preference for Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or Finance.
• Ability to work independently on assigned projects.
• Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of financial markets.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and operate in a fast paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with programming languages such as VBA, Python, or SQL is beneficial.
