Associate, QA and Test Engineering

This role is part of the WRB Tech Quality Engineering team at Standard Chartered. The position focuses on supporting testing activities, ensuring software quality, and contributing to the Agile development lifecycle within the banking technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the business strategy, operating model, and the retail banking environment in which the organisation operates.
• Work with Agile software development processes including change and release management.
• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the software development and testing lifecycle.
• Coordinate testing activities with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
• Prepare and manage test plans, test cases, test scripts, and execution reports.
• Execute API and UI test automation and maintain test coverage for applications.
• Identify, log, and track defects while collaborating with developers to resolve issues.
• Monitor project progress and provide status updates including execution and defect metrics.
• Participate in project meetings and share insights on testing quality and progress.
• Escalate risks or impediments when necessary and maintain communication with the Scrum Master and stakeholders.

Testing and Technical Work

• Develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual tests for RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Perform API automation using Java and related frameworks.
• Use tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, SoapUI, and similar platforms for API validation.
• Carry out UI automation using Selenium.
• Validate data using SQL queries and database checks.
• Work with API documentation tools including Swagger.
• Ensure security validation of APIs, covering authentication, authorization, and data protection.

Governance and Conduct

• Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders throughout planning, preparation, and execution phases.
• Follow the organisation’s values and code of conduct while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
• Identify, escalate, and address risk, compliance, or conduct concerns where required.
