Divisional Overview

Nomura's Global Markets Division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds worldwide. It acts as a market maker in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products.

Business Overview

Nomura's global Convertible Bond franchise sits within the Global Markets Equity Division. It leads the market in APAC and also covers EMEA and US markets, with sales and trading desks in each region, supported by a dedicated Convertible Bond Strategy team.

The role is for a detail-oriented, data-focused and tech-savvy junior analyst who will join the CB Strategy team to provide analytical support and build operational efficiency. Comprehensive training will be provided for proficiency in the convertible bond product.

Position Specifications

Corporate Title: Analyst. Functional Title: Analyst. Experience: 0-3 years. Qualification: Business, Engineering, Computer Science or Quantitative degree graduate, or a related field, with a strong academic background.

Role and Responsibilities

• CB data management: Key member of the primary team responsible for the global convertible bond knowledge store, maintaining life cycle events and the impact of corporate actions on CB instruments. Helps build analytical tools and manage databases for front office and strategy work.
• Analytical support: Conducts market analyses including new issuance valuations, daily CB news and market summaries, report generation and data analysis. Works directly with end users, including front office traders and salespeople, to handle their queries.
• Process review and automation: Streamlines current workflows to free up bandwidth. Analyses processes, identifies bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and proposes and implements solutions to automate recurring research deliverables and reduce manual work, so the team can focus on insight-driven activities.
• Research support: Supports the team with quantitative tasks and ad-hoc data and analytics requests from sales, trading and clients.
