Role Overview
Morgan Stanley is looking for an Associate to join the Firmwide Operations division within Core Services. The role focuses on overseeing risk and control activities related to core reconciliation processes. Responsibilities include internal risk metric reporting, incident management, InfoSec and system entitlement oversight, and supporting departmental testing and audit reviews.
The Operations division works closely with business units across the firm to support financial transactions, implement effective operational controls, and maintain strong client relationships. Core Services provides centralized, product-agnostic operational support across multiple businesses and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure reconciliation processes are supported by well documented, up to date, and compliant procedures.
- Improve control design and enhance efficiency in execution.
- Maintain alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Work with internal teams such as Risk, Finance, and Operations along with global stakeholders.
- Participate in governance meetings and risk forums, presenting summaries of issues and updates.
- Proactively communicate key developments, exceptions, and risks to management.
- Provide structured updates on BAU performance and project deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to automate or improve reconciliation processes.
- Support transformation initiatives including system migrations and control standardization.
- Help enhance operating models, efficiency, and scalability of reconciliation processes.
Skills and Experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability with advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including large data handling, pivot tables, and formulas such as VLOOKUP.
- High attention to detail with focus on accuracy and control discipline.
- Ability to manage time effectively and operate in high pressure environments.
- Understanding of operational risk and control frameworks, including identifying and escalating control gaps.
- Experience with exception management, root cause analysis, and issue tracking.
- Knowledge of financial products such as equities, fixed income, and commodities.
- Familiarity with reconciliation platforms and operational systems.
- Awareness of regulatory environments affecting client assets and reconciliation activities.
