Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division (IBD) provides industry, regional and product expertise to corporations, institutions, and government clients. The team advises on strategic and financing matters including initial public offerings, equity and equity-linked financings, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, defense advisory assignments, strategic partnerships, debt placements, share repurchases, hedging, swaps, and derivative transactions.

Global Capital Markets

The Global Capital Markets (GCM) division addresses client capital needs with market insight and innovative solutions. Whether executing an IPO, debt offering, or leveraged buyout, GCM combines expertise from Sales and Trading and Investment Banking to deliver integrated advice.

GCM Strats collaborate with bankers, traders, and other strategy teams across the firm. Their work combines financial engineering, mathematical modeling, data science, and computer science to analyze markets, products, and capital market transactions.

About the Role

This position focuses on Python development to build internal tools that assist bankers in providing strategic and financial advice to global clients. The primary emphasis is backend development, though candidates with frontend experience, particularly in React, may contribute across the stack.

What You’ll Do

• Develop backend services and data pipelines in Python to power internal banking applications.
• Create and maintain APIs, databases, software tools, and dashboards that support client pitches, transaction execution, and reporting.
• Collaborate with IBD management and bankers worldwide to design solutions that improve productivity, generate revenue, and reduce risk.
• Manage the lifecycle of metrics development including data sourcing, architecture design, implementation, and visualization.
• Contribute to frontend features using React where applicable.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience developing applications in Python.
• Understanding of database systems and API design.
• Interest or exposure to frontend technologies such as React is beneficial.
• Attention to detail and analytical problem solving.
• Ability to collaborate in English with globally distributed teams.
• Interest in financial markets and investment banking.
