Microsoft Hiring Data Center Technician Intern - Pune

The Data Center Technician (DCT) Intern role sits within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organization, the team responsible for powering Microsoft’s cloud services.

As a CO+I DCT Intern, you will help support the infrastructure and foundational technologies behind services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. The team emphasizes both personal and professional development through training programs, career rotation opportunities, diversity initiatives, and professional certifications.

Sustainability and operational optimization remain key priorities as the infrastructure continues to grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

• Assist with deployment of on-site datacenter physical infrastructure.
• Install, replace, and troubleshoot cables and hardware components.
• Handle data-bearing devices such as hard drives and solid-state drives.
• Operate within a ticket-driven work environment to track and resolve tasks.
• Move equipment using pallet jacks or other assisted lifting tools.
• Support the Datacenter Inventory and Asset Management team with shipping, receiving, and inventory control during high work volumes.
• Follow Microsoft culture and values while performing daily tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware and components.
• Interest in supporting IT equipment or related technology environments.
• Currently studying toward a relevant technical qualification.
• Must be an Indian citizen or have legal eligibility to work in India.

Background Check

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, or government security screening requirements. This includes passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
• Ability to stand, walk, lift equipment, and occasionally work at heights with or without equipment assistance.
• Strong communication skills when working with multiple stakeholders.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English to collaborate with regional and global teams.
• Willingness to learn and develop new technical capabilities.
• Flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including weekends or holidays if required.
