Job Description

Mastercard is seeking passionate and driven individuals to join their global technology team as Software Engineer I. In this role, you'll be part of Mastercard Launch – a graduate-level development program tailored to nurture future leaders in the payment technology space.

As a software engineer, you’ll develop secure, scalable, and high-performing systems that process global transactions, analyze real-time data, and build payment solutions that influence the economy at scale.

We are looking for team players who are excited to solve meaningful problems, take ownership, and contribute to Mastercard’s purpose of powering a sustainable and inclusive global economy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust software solutions with an emphasis on security, reliability, and maintainability
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and support
  • Collaborate with a global team of engineers, product managers, and designers
  • Own the quality of the code and contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines
  • Monitor systems in production and quickly address performance issues or system failures
  • Apply Mastercard’s security standards and ensure data confidentiality and integrity

Candidate Profile

  • Currently in the final year of a Bachelor's or accelerated Master’s program in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline
  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and core computer science principles
  • Effective communication skills – both written and verbal – in English
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated interest in learning, growing, and delivering high-impact technology solutions

Technical Skills Required

Java, JavaScript, Data Structures, Algorithms, Computer Science Fundamentals, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Version Control Systems, Object-Oriented Programming, API Integration, Debugging, Problem Solving
