Job Description Summary
The Data Scientist will design and implement artificial intelligence based solutions across multiple disciplines at GE Aerospace. In this role, you will contribute to building and deploying modern machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical, operations research, and semantic analysis techniques to discover patterns in large datasets.
The position involves executing data science initiatives with limited guidance from senior team members to deliver measurable business outcomes. A strong technical background, analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate with cross functional stakeholders are essential.

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru serves as GE's multidisciplinary research and engineering hub. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to numerous aviation patents and innovations in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.
Role Overview
- Understand business challenges and develop appropriate data science solutions.
- Design, build, and implement machine learning and AI models and algorithms.
- Work with analytics development processes related to business workflows.
- Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets used to train and evaluate models.
- Maintain data quality and integrity throughout the data pipeline.
- Run experiments to build models, evaluate their performance, and refine them iteratively.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to deploy models into production environments under guidance from senior members.
- Monitor and maintain deployed models to ensure expected performance.
- Work closely with data architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Optimize machine learning models for scalability, performance, and efficiency.
- Stay informed about advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Explore new AI and ML tools and techniques to enhance team capabilities.
- Maintain documentation for machine learning models, algorithms, and related processes.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with Generative AI, large language models, and Python.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline with experience in analytics development.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Familiarity with Python based web frameworks.
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their machine learning services.
- Hands on experience with applied analytics, descriptive statistics, feature extraction, and predictive modeling on datasets.
- Ability to present insights through effective data visualization and storytelling for stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to collaborate and influence within peer groups.
- Experience implementing components of a defined analytics roadmap.
- Capability to evaluate features using established methods and select valuable ones.
- Knowledge of models such as CART, SVM, Random Forest, and Neural Networks.
- Understanding of Generative AI and large language models.
- Experience applying cross validation and verification techniques to develop reliable models from large datasets.
- Awareness of common data quality challenges and techniques for handling them.
- Experience with basic data cleaning processes including handling missing or invalid data.
- Ability to perform statistical testing such as t-tests, ANOVA, and hypothesis testing with proper interpretation of p-values.
- Use of modular and object oriented coding practices for reusable components.
- Experience visualizing exploratory data using plots such as box, bubble, and matrix charts.
- Basic understanding of GE Aerospace business context and how analytical tools create value.
